ALIVE! Maryland stands for Assess, Learn, Integrate, Visualize, Engage, which represented each phase of a three-year ALIVE! Maryland program collaboration between Maryland Department of Health, Infectious Disease Prevention and Health Services Bureau and HealthHIV.

ALIVE Maryland will continue as a motivational call to action in an effort to build capacity and to improve the health of Marylanders. Offerings accessible on this platform were designed and developed based on the outcome of two Workforce Assessments, which were completed by over 300 Marylanders in the HIV and other infectious diseases workforce.

For years, the MDH: Infectious Disease Prevention and Health Services Bureau’s Capacity Building, Training and Technical Assistance unit had been working on the development of a comprehensive data driven interactive web-based platform to aid in our work, and to better address the needs of our community partners.

After so many years of developing wireframe and wireframe, and a multitude of meetings, and training, we were very excited when ALIVE! Maryland was born. This could not have been possible without the partnership of HealthHIV, who brought ALIVE Maryland to fruition. Through this partnership, ALIVE! Maryland was very instrumental in propelling and sustaining the HIV and other infectious diseases primary workforce with education and training offerings and access to the healthcare workforce data over the past three years.

Basically, ALIVE! Maryland has become a one stop touch point to education, information, and resources. And the launch of ALIVE! Maryland happened simultaneously during the Covid 19 state of emergency, so the timing could not have been better for everyone in all aspects. To see a dream come true where offerings are available to the community through self-paced asynchronous access 24/7 is amazing.
